Eyes on Chaturbate - December Edition
Updates on Chaturbate, the camming industry and CB Cam Insights.
Welcome back to another addition of our newsletter. First of all, with the tumultuous changes at Twitter including its announcement of shutting down Revue (this is why you are reading this on Substack), letting go of more than 90% of their engineers and the loss of most of their ad revenue with advertisers pulling back, you could call it chaos since I use Twitter as my primary social platform. A new Twitter will eventually emerge but what it means for adult creators is unclear at the moment. I sincerely hope Twitter will remain viable and thriving as a platform as I have enjoyed the community in our niche quite a bit and hope to connect with many more of you over the next year!
Chaturbate
There have been 109,505 performers active (at least one broadcast) on Chaturbate over the last 7 days (numbers from 12/16) - less than the summer highs but around 10% higher than December 2021 averages. With viewership roughly the same (based on a custom metric, it’s not shared directly by Chaturbate) that means as a model you have more competition for attention than before. As last year, we expect the Christmas slowdown to start in another week or so get ready for that! 🎅🎄
Off the charts
hotfallingdevil still retains her followers crown, but mashayang passed caylin and is now on second place with 1.45 million followers.
The race for the 18th Chaturbate performer to cross one million followers was a nailbiter, sexxylorry, hannahjames710 and heatherbb9 all got ever so close to cross that magic line. Finally yesterday sexxylorry crossed it first - huge congratulations!
CB Cam Insights Updates
Again a lot of updates at CB Cam Insights - most notably the Twitter integration, which I’m personally very excited about and it’s been fun (and frustrating at times) to develop this.
I should note that CB Cam Insights is a paid subscription (❤️ my subscribers) - but there's some features for free users both on the website as well as with the chrome extension.
Twitter Integration
Chaturbate models often also have a big Twitter following and use Twitter to advertise since Twitter is one of the very few adult content friendly platforms that have reach. To make it easier to get fans and followers from Twitter into your Chaturbate room CB Cam Insights added a twitter integration with live profile images during your Chaturbate broadcasts as an add-on or plan upgrade! Check your Twitter settings to activate this feature and get your own customizable live profile image!
On top of that you can now also change your name and bio during broadcasts, which is great to add that ever present 🔴 and add a link to your room in your bio.

Overview chart updates
All charts accessible from the dashboard overview and the studio overview can now be downloaded as images so you can easily share them when needed.
You can now expand all charts on your dashboard overview to cover most of your screen, so that you can more easily digest the data for longer time frames.
The studio overview now also has stacked bar charts with data from all your models allowing to easily drill down into how every model contributes to your success.
You can also filter models by simply unselecting them in the filter modal to get a closer look at a subset of your models. Selecting a model in the table will automatically filter out all other models in the charts and just show the data for that model.
CB Explorer
Quite a few updates over the last 3 months I’ll try to compress to fit this format. I should really increase the newsletter frequency to cover this in smaller chunks!
Most notably there’s a new blog post where I posted the results of chatting with ChatGPT on how to become a successful adult cam model which I called tongue-in-cheek “The AI guide to adult camming”. For the most part ChatGPT seems to be offering genuinely good and wholesome 😊 advice on how to become a successful adult cam model, so check it out!!
Community Tagging - improving performer discovery
In October community tagging went live - you can now include user submitted tags when filtering models by tag on CB Explorer. In my opinion in the long run this is a much better way to find the right performers than the way Chaturbate provides just by itself because of the 5-tag limit and the way models use theses tags mostly to maximize getting viewers into their room.
Community tagging consists of two parts - the filter option displayed above as well as the ability for CB Explorer users to assign custom tags to any model.
And of course I also tweeted about it!
But there was one more change on CB Explorer to improve discovery - fan quotes. Fan quotes allow you to leave a detailed summary for a performer to learn more about them and their shows on Chaturbate. This gives other CB Explorer users a way to know what to expect, but also a chance to leave their own feedback for their favorite performers!
I’m excited about a number of good and informative fan quotes received since the launch, but given that there’s so many active models on Chaturbate and CB Explorer is still small that still only covers very few of them - time to add your fan quote if you read this! 🙏
Improved model search
CB Explorer Search got two upgrades - now you can search with multiple search terms and the gender and age of each match is now displayed, also showing with a different background color by gender.
CB Explorer Chart updates
You can now view the most followed charts by gender making it much more useful for male and Trans performers and even most couples that draw a smaller audience than girls on Chaturbate.
The top monthly charts now have a lot more useful data for each performer, including their current tags, the number of broadcasts they did over the last 30 days, their best daily rank and the maximum viewers they had during that timeframe.
Insights
I had a surprising find when updating CB Explorer's search feature - men (with 47.5%) are actually the largest active broadcaster group on Chaturbate - even though women (with 40.3%) dominate in viewer charts and by overall number of broadcasts.
I tweeted about this of course and shared broadly, which led to some hilarious feedback 😂
